Welcome to the Home Page of the Twickenham Doll Club, located in Huntsville, AL. TDC was founded in 1976 (click here to read more about our history) and is a proud member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs (UFDC). Membership in the Twickenham Doll Club includes membership in UFDC and a subscription to Doll News, the official publication of UFDC.
While we normally meet in Huntsville, we serve the entire North Central Alabama region with members from many of the surrounding communities, including Madison, Decatur, Harvest and more, and occasionally hold our meetings outside of Huntsville.
As our community is diverse, so is our membership. North Alabama is a melting pot community, with traditional Southerners, military/government relocatees/retirees and high tech types (these last two categories frequently including “Yankee” transplants), and even Hurricane Katrina refugees.
As our members are diverse, so are our doll interests. Members collections include everything from antique dolls to modern collectibles and play dolls and everything in between. We have doll maker members who create dolls in materials such as bisque, wood and cloth. We have doll painters, and doll clothing makers who sew, knit or crochet and so very much more. |

Although a small club (with hopes of becoming a bigger club), we are a busy club and a very friendly one. We meet monthly, and have a variety of different events at our meetings.
We have speakers, some local and some from afar who present us all sorts of interesting doll topics; we have classes (such as a recent class lead by club member Vicki, during which we learned how to make shoes for Ann Estelle), and we regularly have Show and Tell, where members get to show off dolls from their private collections, especially recent additions.
Show and Tell can be particularly dangerous—as we get to see and learn about different dolls that we may not otherwise be familiar with and then get tempted to go out and find them for our own collections.
We also have monthly Ann Estelle fashion shows. Click here to read about the Ann Estelle project. |

Our monthly meetings are generally open to the public. You are welcome to attend a meeting or two to see if you would like to join us. Currently, we usually meet at Oak Place, in NE Huntsville on the third Tuesday of the month at 730 pm. However, since we sometimes meet elsewhere, or reschedule a meeting due to speaker availability, it is strongly recommended that you contact the club information contact listed below to confirm meeting information. |
